What will you be celebrating: Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras?

“Fat Tuesday” is the last day before the season of Lent — with its 40 days of preparation and, for some, fasting — kicks in.

Many congregations mark the time before Lent with a celebration. Depending on where you live and what traditions your congregation draws upon, tomorrow is observed as Shrove Tuesday (with pancakes, of course!) or Mardi Gras (with dancing and revelry).

How are you celebrating?

At St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown we will be celebrating Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent begins, when we can indulge one more time with all those sugary treats!

Tonight we will be celebrating with a pancake supper at Emmanuel Episcopal in a nearby community with three other Lutheran churches and close with a joint worship to begin the Lenten journey complete with ashes!
