What music is most helpful for you in worship?

Mark Mummert, a church organist, describes in a blog entry today how Martin Luther helped change the music used in worship services. Mark writes that these changes continue — sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

Is there a type of music, or specific song, that helps you feel close to God in worship?

In my previous congregation, I would play extemporaneously during the prayers of the people. Not only did I feel closer to God in that setting, but many other people said the soft piano in the background helped them feel connected in a unique way.
