Sandra Miller

My vocation (or calling in life): physical therapy assistant.

My congregation: St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peabody, Kan.

My favorite person in the Bible: Ruth (so faithful).

My favorite liturgical season: Ascension — so overlooked, but the most important.

My favorite potluck dish: everything! What’s not to love?

My favorite junk food: chocolate, the darker the better.

I prefer to sit here during worship: wherever I’m needed.

People would be surprised to know that: I still play the flute after 40 years (and I’m taking lessons too).

The hymn I want played at my funeral: “Now the Green Blade Riseth” and “Lift High the Cross.” NOT “Amazing Grace” or “How Great Thou Art.”

Lutherans are great at: being in the middle of any important issue.

Lutherans could do better at: taking a stand one way or the other.

My favorite volunteer project: teaching Sunday school, any age.

The ministry I’m most passionate about: anything where the congregation serves others.

I feel most Lutheran when: liturgy, liturgy, liturgy, music, music, music.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands: all day long.
