Carrie Smith

My vocation (or calling in life): pastor.

My congregation: Capron Lutheran Church, Capron, Ill.

My favorite hymn: “The King of Love My Shepherd Is.”

My favorite liturgical season: Advent.

My favorite Christmas carol: “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming.”

I prefer to sit here during worship: behind the pulpit.

The TV show I never miss: “Project Runway.”

Someone who inspires me: my mom.

Lutherans are great at: eating.

Lutherans could do better at: welcoming.

I was most proud of my congregation when: it raised its (percentage of) mission support (sent to the synod and the churchwide organization).

The ministry I’m most passionate about: welcoming all people!

I feel most Lutheran when: we are singing.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: worshiping, living in the word (of God).

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I care for others.
