My vocation (or calling in life): teacher.

My congregation: Ascension Lutheran Church, Riverside, Ill.

My favorite hymn: “Beautiful Savior.”

My favorite person in the Bible: Joseph (son of Jacob).

My favorite Christmas carol: “Silent Night.”

My favorite potluck dish: cheesy potatoes.

My favorite movie: “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”

I like my coffee: black and strong.

Someone who inspires me: my friend Debbie.

The best thing I learned in Sunday school: the Bible isn’t literal.

Lutherans are great at: being friendly.

Lutherans could do better at: being more unified on controversial issues.

I feel most Lutheran when: I talk with Catholics about our faith differences.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: accepting others’ differences.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I teach Sunday school.
