Roger Timm

My vocation (or calling in life): pastor.

My congregation: Ascension Lutheran Church, Riverside, Ill.

My favorite hymn: “For All the Saints.”

My favorite disciple: Andrew.

My favorite person in the Bible: Paul.

My favorite potluck dish: lasagna.

My favorite movie: “The Spitfire Grill.”

My favorite junk food: onion rings.

Lutherans are great at: singing.

Lutherans could do better at: inviting people to worship.

I was most proud of my congregation when: they agreed to resettle a refugee family.

I was most frustrated with my congregation when: they argued over the use of a youth room.

I feel most Lutheran when: I’m at a church gathering, singing and celebrating communion.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: being confident of God’s grace.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I touch the sick with my hands during prayer.

I remember well that Pr. Roger was on my ordination examination panel in 1995 at LSTC. He was affirming, engaging and caring in that process. Great to see your profile and all my best!
