Carol Payeatt

My vocation (or calling in life): associate in ministry, missionary.

My congregation: American Lutheran Church, Grand Junction, Colo.

My favorite hymn: “On Eagle’s Wings.”

My favorite disciple: Peter.

My favorite person in the Bible: Ruth.

My favorite liturgical season: Lent.

My favorite Christmas carol: “Once in David’s Royal City.”

I prefer to sit here during worship: near the front.

My perfect day: is one spent with my children and grandchildren.

The hymn I want played at my funeral: “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.”

The best thing I learned in Sunday school: Jesus loves me!

Lutherans are great at: planning great worship services.

Lutherans could do better at: at being more welcoming.

I was most proud of my congregation when: it started having the homeless stay at our church.

The ministry I’m most passionate about: children.
