These days it seems a lot of education is geared toward getting a job or improving a current job.
Since you’ve been in the workplace, have you taken a course just for the joy of learning? Did the experience teach you something about yourself that you didn’t know or perhaps had forgotten?
I haven't left academia, so it's hard to answer in the full spirit. Did I ever take classes irrelevant to my majors or doctorate? Certainly. Have I taken a class since finishing them in grad school? Nope, nor do I have immediate plans to, unless it's something like square dancing.
But then again, my favorite classroom is outdoors.
