My vocation (or calling in life): public service.

My congregation: Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison, Wis.

My favorite hymn: “Beautiful Savior.”

My favorite person in the Bible: Moses.

My favorite potluck dish: calico beans.

I prefer to sit here during worship: halfway up on the right.

My perfect day: golf — coffee — a cigar.

People would be surprised to know that: I really dislike “Glee.”

The hymn I want played at my funeral: “Lift High the Cross.”

Lutherans are great at: singing.

Lutherans could do better at: welcoming.

My favorite volunteer project: Habitat for Humanity.

I feel most Lutheran when: talking about baptism.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: trusting in God’s grace.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I serve the church.
