Sarah Burkhardt

My vocation (or calling in life): student affairs in higher education, aka college student personnel.

My congregation: several in recent years, currently Shepherd of the Hills in Sylvia, N.C.

I’ve been an ELCA Lutheran since: April 6, 1986 (yes, I know my baptismal date).

My favorite Bible verse: Micah 6:8, “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

My favorite disciple: Philip, because he asked Jesus a great question at the Last Supper.

My favorite liturgical season: Advent.

I like my coffee: fairly traded.

I prefer to sit here during worship: in a different spot than last week.

What’s playing on my iPod right now: Bruno Mars.

Someone who inspires me: Mark Radecke, chaplain at Susquehanna University.

The best thing I learned in Sunday school: it’s best to actively participate.

Lutherans are great at: Playing 6 degrees (more like 3 degrees) of separation when we meet other Lutherans.

The ministry I’m most passionate about: Agape Kura Beach Ministries. Go Camp!

What “living Lutheran” means to me: Sowing God’s love and seeking God’s grace each day.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I clean, prepare or construct something for, or with, someone else.
