If you could spend a year in another country, which would it be?

Living in another country for an extended period can change your perspective on the world and your place in it. Which country would you like to experience? What would you hope to learn? If you have temporarily lived in another country, how was your life different when you returned?

If I could go and live in another country, it would hands down be Italy. I had the chance to go there for a few days in high school, and fell in love with the history, the people and the beauty of it all. I would love a chance to walk where Paul walked, stay in monastaries and abbeys, and pray through the hours of the day with whomever I came across. I would love to leave my cell phone behind, and find ways to re-connect with God's creation. I would hope I would learn to slow down more, take more time to process God's abundant blessings, and become more mindful about the need for true sabbath. Hopefully in another couple years, when I have been preaching long enough to have earned a sabbatical, I can make that trip happen!
