What expectations do you have for the new year?

It’s so easy to become jaded and expect that the future will be no better than the past. But, for now, the pages of 2012 are blank. What would you like to see written in them? What can you do in the coming year to help that become a reality?

I expect Catholics to be extended the hand of Christ in a compassionate manner. I expect when someone is celibate that someone who is in the body of Christ resist putting temptation in front of them and should be supported in their personal decision whatever denomination they are. I expect talks about sex to be open and mature and in the manner that the ELCA has outlined for us in its website so that the conversation becomes honest, sincere and hopeful after all we have the Song of Solomon as an example in scripture. I expect women to treat men with respect and talk to them kindly like we like to be talked to whether they are part of a church or not. I expect men to treat women with respect as well.

In 2012 my hope is to get deeper connected to God's plan for me and less into what I have planned. One way I know that will help accomplish this I had already started back in 2011 namely getting into The Word deeper than just surface reading. Teaching at any level can help push us to request The Spirit's help and guidance instead of trying to use our mind only to contemplate the deeper things of the Bible. When I have experienced God speaking through me (preaching or teaching what I had not intended) I am humbled and energized. In the words of Christian rap artist Lecrae "go hard"
