Alda-Rydin

My vocation (or calling in life): mother of four daughters, grandmother of 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, teacher for 34 years.

My congregation: Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, Minn.

My favorite hymn: “Blessed Assurance.”

My favorite Bible verse: John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.”

My favorite liturgical season: Lent.

My favorite Christmas carol: “Silent Night.”

My favorite potluck dish: scalloped potatoes with ham.

I prefer to sit here during worship: upper-right side.

The TV show I never miss: the 10 p.m. news.

My perfect day: having all four of my daughters with me.

Someone who inspires me: my mother.

People would be surprised to know that: I was salutatorian in high school.

My favorite volunteer project: sewing mission quilts.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: helping others.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I’m at my Bernina sewing machine!
