My vocation (or calling in life): the struggle to answer that question is ongoing.

My congregation: St. Petri Evangelical Lutheran Church, Story City, Iowa.

My favorite hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”

My favorite Bible verse: Jeremiah 31:3 (KJV), “… I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with loving kindness have I drawn thee.”

My favorite liturgical season: Easter — He is risen indeed, ALLELUIA!

My favorite movie: “Pride and Prejudice.”

My favorite junk food: cheese balls from Dairy Queen.

What’s playing on my iPod right now: “Graceland” by Paul Simon.

My perfect day: would include learning something new in the company of others who share similar passions.

Someone who inspires me: Dietrich Bonhoeffer in “Life Together.”

The hymn I want played at my funeral: “Just As I Am.”

Lutherans are great at: saying we are “saved by grace through faith.”

Lutherans could do better at: believing that God’s grace is really sufficient, then sharing that life-changing message with others.

I was most frustrated with my congregation when: my former congregation voted to withdraw from the ELCA.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I cut fabric squares and tie quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Thank you for the image of skipping down the aisle for communion, a beautiful response to God's grace.
