My vocation (or calling in life): pastor and missionary to the homeless.

My congregation: Welcome Ministry (Inglesia Santa Mary y Santa Marta, St. Francis, herchurch, Christ Church and St. Aidan’s), San Francisco.

My favorite hymn: “Oh Come, Oh, Come, Emmanuel.”

My favorite Bible verse: Hosea 1:2. God says to Hosea: “take for yourself a wife of whoredom.” It shows the Bible is bigger and perhaps a more interesting read than some give it credit for.

My favorite person in the Bible: Jael.

My favorite liturgical season: Lent.

My favorite potluck dish: Tater-Tots casserole.

I prefer to sit here during worship: on the floor with the children.

Someone who inspires me: my grandmother.

People would be surprised to know that: I am dyslexic.

The best thing I learned in Sunday school: attendance is rewarded!

I was most proud of my congregation when: St. Francis got donations and gave away shoes to the homeless in response to my Easter sermon.

The ministry I’m most passionate about: bringing the good news to those who have been told it could never be for them.

I feel most Lutheran when: I sing.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I hug a homeless person.
