In a perfect world, I'd prayer the daily offices every day. The world is not perfect. Luther compared pastoral ministry to "herding cats." But parishioners aren't an interruption to our work, they are the reason for it. A lot of my praying is done in nursing homes and at hospital bedsides. Have a non-responsive patient/member? Try praying Matins or the Commendation of the Dying with her. She might hear more than you know and it will do you a world of good. I find lunch and breakfast the perfect times to set down with a good devotional or theological book. It it is truly good, you'll get a healthy dose of scripture from it.
