My vocation (or calling in life): executive assistant, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.
My congregation: Luther Memorial Church of Chicago.
My favorite hymn: “Children of the Heavenly Father.”
My favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 55:12, “For you shall go out in joy, and be led back in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall burst into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
My favorite person in the Bible: Ruth.
My favorite liturgical season: Advent.
My favorite potluck dish: lasagna.
My favorite junk food: guacamole and chips.
I prefer to sit here during worship: a third of the way back on the right.
My perfect day: a cook-out with friends on a sunny day after church.
People would be surprised to know that: I was a scuba diver, saxophone player and rifle sharpshooter.
I was most proud of my congregation when: we came together for more than a year to prepare meals and help an amputee without health insurance or a job.
I feel most Lutheran when: we work together on community ministries.
What “living Lutheran” means to me: attending worship, serving on church committees, Women of the ELCA, serving at congregational celebrations and participating in ecumenical activities.
I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I work at my job tasks, when I serve at church and when I donate to charitable and needy causes.
