Jeffrey Goodman

My vocation (or calling in life): pastor.

My congregation: Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ephrata, Pa.

My faith background is (if applicable): United Methodist.

My favorite hymn: “Eternal Father Strong to Save.”

My favorite Bible verse: Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

My favorite potluck dish: Joy Boyer’s pulled pork.

My favorite movie: “The Natural.”

The TV show I never miss: Phillies baseball.

What’s playing on my iPod right now: Johnny Cash.

I am most proud of my congregation when: I join them at the Lord’s Supper.

I am most frustrated with my congregation when: people worry about being “successful” instead of faithful.

My favorite volunteer project: assisting with Christmas at the Ephrata Cloister.

The ministry I’m most passionate about: preaching the word and administering the sacraments at the divine service.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: remembering my baptism and living boldly in grace.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I distribute our Lord’s body and blood at the divine service.
