JoAnn Salava

My vocation (or calling in life): retired dietitian.

My congregation: St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Camp Douglas, Wis.

My favorite hymn: “Is It I, Lord?” (“Here I am, Lord”).

My favorite disciple: James.

My favorite person in the Bible: Deborah.

My favorite potluck dish: calico beans.

My favorite movie: “Pretty Woman.”

I prefer to sit here during worship: in the front.

Someone who inspires me: ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson.

People would be surprised to know that: I was super shy as a young person.

Lutherans are great at: singing.

Lutherans could do better at: telling their faith stories.

I feel most Lutheran when: I talk to others about the church.

What “living Lutheran” means to me: grace.

I’m doing God’s work with my hands when: I prepare Lutheran World Relief kits.
