It gives me hope that winter, snow, and cold will really be over soon.

Just a few days after the Vernal Equinox is the Annunciation of Our Lord, March 25. That feast commemorates the angel Gabriel proclaiming to Mary that she would be the Mother of Our Lord. How appropriate that such a message would come to Mary right around the time that the hours of light would out number the hours of darkness in the day. Nine months later, December 25, right after the winter solstice, we celebrate the Nativity of our Lord, the birth of Jesus Christ. Again how appropriate that Christ was born right around the time that the amount of sunlight in the days begins to lengthen. Even nature is in harmony with the history of our salvation. The buds bursting and flowers blooming, against the backdrop of lefless trees and mud, this time of year reminds me of Christ rising in beauty and pwoer form the stone cold tomb.
