What childhood fear did you have that was caused by a misunderstanding?

When you were a child, did you fear that if your parents got fired at work they would burn? Delmer Chilton writes in a blog that as a child he thought the voice reading the obituaries on the radio was God. That misunderstanding led to some serious panic one day at the barbershop. What unfortunate childhood fears did you have?
