Our congregation recently began a new mission (April 2010) because "Jesus called us" to look out into our greater community and meet a need. The aging population is a huge social issue that affects families at all stages of their lives, whether they are the aged, the children, the caregivers, the neighbors. We asked ourselves how can we use our time and talents? We as Lutherans are humble, simple and welcoming, caring people. We have capitalized on this by using space that would otherwise go unused during the week, and we worked hard (over ywo years of planning) to create a sustainable and thrifty yet effective program. Open Arms Senior Connection has been a huge success; has changed lives, and has inspired us. We know that through God's love we can succeed in anything we seek to do.
