The Welcome Ministry created a living church out of the ashes and rubble of St. Paulus Lutheran Church, which burned down in the 1990s. The Free Farm, which was constructed from the bricks of the old church, materials diverted from the landfill and recycled compost from local restaurants and Christmas trees, has produced 3,200 pounds of produce, which have been given away to neighbors.

Great job, Megan! I have always wanted to visit your free farm. I may be out in the fall so hopefully I can see you then:)
This video was so interesting. My mother-in-law and father-in-law were married at St.Paulus Lutheran, after having met in San Francisco, during WWII. They returned to Clarion IA, to live and raise their family. My husband and I went to St.Paulus with them decades later,mid-week, when we were in SF for a dental meeting. The church and church school were still there, functioning, as it was the early 1980's. Mom was from Crosby, North Dakota, and Dad was from Keystone, Iowa. St. Paulus Lutheran has always held a place in our hearts, knowing their story. When the church burned, it even made the nightly news in Wausau WI, where my husband and I were, and still are living. I know "Ellie and Walt", now in heaven, are delighted to know there is new life for the old St.Paulus location! Answering the call to "feed my sheep", St.Paulus is serving well.
