Take the call on faith with your smartphone.

In a hectic world, packed with distractions and frustrations, who wouldn’t want a few minutes when they can call on faith for some respite?

Now that kind of break is possible anytime, anywhere, with Call on Faith, the new all-video smartphone “app” from Odyssey Networks.

Call on Faith, which is available for the Droid, Blackberry and iPhone (plus the iPod Touch or iTouch), offers multiple channels that feature inspiration, encouragement and information. These include Prayer, Spirit Boost, Wise Words, Compassionate Acts and Meditations, with additional channels planned on such topics as News, Parenting, Music, Addiction Recovery and Grieving.

A number of faith leaders are represented on Call on Faith, including Martin Marty, a theologian who offers an original prayer and shares a story of his personal faith journey.

Like Odyssey, Call on Faith is programmed from a multifaith perspective with the intention of satisfying both active members of congregations as well as people with a strong interest in spirituality.

The app also provides an opportunity to explore the practices of various faith traditions in the hope of fulfilling Odyssey’s mission to build bridges of understanding among people of diverse beliefs and perspectives. The app will be supplemented and supported with special content on the Odyssey website.
