Because of changes in the general publishing industry, the explosion of the digital world, and continued declining denominational loyalty, many traditional Christian publishers are limiting or discontinuing their publishing programs, making it more difficult for authors to get published and congregational resources to be produced.
However, as self-published resources continue to grow and self-publishing becomes more accepted by industry gatekeepers, many of these authors are finding new ways to get their ideas into the hands of audiences everywhere.
Good news for congregations
The rise of self-publishing is good news for church leaders who might not be seeing as many resources available through the larger, traditional Christian publishers. For example, Vibrant Faith Ministries has chosen to publish all of its books and resources through self-publishing.
